Doing web maintenance (but you can still contact me!)

Hiya Friend!

I hope you’re enjoying the start of a glorious spring!

I wanted you to know that my team (okay, me and my dogs) will be performing some web site maintenance for the next couple of days. I’m letting you know just in case you’re unable to access the articles or products you need for a little while.

Hopefully, the updates will go smoothly and I won’t have to call in the big wigs (my children or virtual assistants who help me when I really mess up). But, if I ruin everything and I’m out of touch for a little while, please remember you can contact me a whole bunch of different ways (for questions, appointments or just to say hello!):

via Facebook

via Twitter

via Gmail

or at the next *live* conference or event I’m appearing!

I promise I won’t be a stranger. And if you’re a new subscriber I apologize there won’t be fresh content for a little while but I’ll get with you soon!

Cheers!

If you’re suddenly homeschooling, these free downloads can help

In the typical scenario, families decide to homeschool, spend time preparing, and have flexibility in making decisions leading up to the big day.

In other homes, unexpected circumstances can require making quick decisions to provide schooling for children who’ve been displaced, or whose homes or schools have been destroyed.

Families have long chosen homeschooling for reasons of health, travel, unexpected job loss, and a host of other issues. The recent weather emergencies in Texas, Florida and California have added to the list of reasons for suddenly homeschooling, affecting families who’d never considered this method of education before.

A large part of what I do is help families in unplanned homeschooling situations, helping to get them established where they live, and collect the resources they need to jump in as best they can during unsettled situations.

I even wrote a book to explain how sudden and unexpected homeschooling can occur — and be successful – with only 2 short weeks of planning and preparation (often less).

Homeschooling isn’t always a family’s first choice.

Those of us who’ve been homeschooling for many years may tend to forget that many families homeschool in less than ideal situations.

If you’re a family who is homeschooling when you never expected you’d be, I’d like to be helpful as you get ready to bring your children home.

I’ve included some links, below, where you can get 2 of my resources absolutely free. It’s my way of saying “welcome” to home education, and letting you know you are not alone as you stick your toes into uncharted waters.

If there is anything else I can do, don’t hesitate to ask.

Get a free chapter of my book “Suddenly Homeschooling” (instant download on your screen)

Get a free copy of my lesson planning booklet called “Plan Your Own Homeschool Curriculum” (requires coupon code: FREEPLANNER17)

This isn’t just for you. Feel free to share with other friends in need.

Guest podcasting today at “Cultivating Grace”

Did you ever wish you could meet a mom who was just one step ahead of you on the journey? Are you looking to connect with moms who’ve already completed the homeschool journey, unraveled difficult parenting problems, or solved the dilemmas you’re facing right now?

At Everyday Graces, you might find exactly what you’re looking for. Site creator, Lara Molettierre, has developed a wonderful audio series to meet those needs, and more. The series, called “Cultivating Grace”, delivers a weekly 5-minute message of advice and encouragement on topics designed for moms like us.

What I love most about the series is the 5-minute format. It’s just long enough to handle in one sitting, yet it’s packed with enough advice to make a huge impact, too.

I’m honored to be delivering this week’s podcast message, where I share my heart about the importance of self-care. I want to invite you to listen to my 5-minute message, and to hang out there a little while longer to hear some of the other encouraging messages, too.

Cultivating Graces is a wonderful series for moms who are short on time, but desire to learn from one another. If you enjoy listening to it, please share it with some of your friends, too.

See you there,

Supplements for new Florida book

If you were wondering where to grab more information about my new homeschooling book, this notice is for you.

(Click on the book to see inside)

So, the book is called, “The Ultimate Guide to Florida Homeschooling” (Moreau, 2017) and it’s available on Amazon today! You’ll find it in PAPERBACK or in KINDLE and it’s all buttoned up and ready to help support you on your home ed journey.

One of the promises I made to those buying the book is to provide updates from time to time. Updates will not only help keep you informed, but they’ll provide extra little goodies I just didn’t have room for in the book itself.

Today’s updates include snapshots from the Florida Statutes. They’re the laws homeschoolers need to follow when establishing and maintaining a home education program in Florida. (Why is this important?) Future updates will be posted as I have the time, and will be available free of charge for purchasers of the book.

You’ll find today’s updates here.  (Need a password? Use: sunshine)

Tell your friends about the book, and remind them to pick up their own copies, too. Your friends can then subscribe to my newsletter so they can get their own freebies, too.

Happy homeschooling!
